Welcome to the Kingdom of Korovia©!

Ah, the land of Korovia... An ancient kingdom with a pseudo-Transylvanian/Slavic culture, ideal for fantasy short stories and novels... For centuries the land has been under an ancient curse that placed it in a perpetual Ice Age. While the people of Korovia suffer other lands flourish, and the cold weather in Korovia has caused fantasy monsters to run amok while the heroes of Korovia struggle... and continues to struggle in the face demonic invasions.

But what is more interesting about Korovia is the © (copyright symbol) in the blog post here, for Korovia has some special rules with respect to its copyright that make it a free license fantasy world wherein other writers can develop their own stories / novels and benefit from a common brand name for the setting.

With shared fantasy settings there is always an owner and that owner jealously guards their copyright. Examples of such shared fantasy settings are: Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, etc. Even the settings of Middle-Earth (Tolkien / etc), Star Trek and the Star Wars setting would be considered shared settings.

The problem with organizing a shared setting is that you can't just let writers do anything they want. There has to be some vague sense of control so you don't run into problems wherein the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

See our rules section to learn more.

What are the benefits of writing in a shared world?

#1. Extra exposure. If you write and publish a Star Wars novel you are instantly going to have exposure and fan recognition. The goal here is to grow Korovia so it has a large number of writers and a large fan base of devoted readers.

#2. Feedback. All that exposure means people will be able to leave comments on this website and send fanmail to the writer asking for more.

#3. MONEY. Because Korovia allows you to publish your works digitally independently you can publish your work on Amazon Kindle and ALL your profits are yours to keep. You don't need to share any of the profits with the Korovia brand or organizers.

#4. Its easy to join. Want to become a writer for the Korovia fantasy world? Email charlesmoffat@charlesmoffat.com right now and get started.

What are you waiting for? Become a writer and/or fan of the Korovia free license fantasy world!
